The Dangerous Gas Show
What is it about?
The effects of heat on gases – expansion and contraction (growing and shrinking) of gases [making "gases" bigger and smaller]
How long does it last?
20 – 25 mins for 4-6 pupils
What happens?
There are four demonstrations and one activity.
- Water boiling (Undergraduate – demo)
- Gas with “bang”/ “can bang” (all pupils – activity)
- “Expanding” balloon (Undergraduate – demo)
- “Collapsing” can (Undergraduate + 1 pupil volunteer)
- Stirling motor (Undergraduate – demo)
